When you worked you were motivated: whether by money, success, power or some other factors. Retired life pulls that motivation out from under. How can you find your motivation in retired life?
You will know what you hope to achieve in retired life: your personal list of activities. The linked article at the bottom outlines a framework to adopt called the 3 C’s: Challenge, Contribution and Control.
That’s good, but there’s still something missing. I call it the rocket fuel of retired life. The Japanese call it ikigai or the reason to get out of bed in the morning. It’s about the move from recognition of the 3 C’s to action.
I say to clients it’s important to have a time budget and an energy budget as a guide to your weeks and months.
In this way you can locate those days and hours when it suits YOU, in terms of both timing and energy levels, to set that rocket fuel alight and get on with one of your activities.
